BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Location: Sioux Falls
 

Black Hills Federal Credit Union, a $1+ Billion financial institution with thirteen locations, is seeking an experienced professional for a full-time Business Development Officer position in our Marketing Sales Department. This position will be located in Sioux Falls.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for establishing relationships with organizations and individuals to achieve deposit and loan growth. Act as liaison to connect appropriate employees/departments to sales opportunities.
  • Represent the Credit Union at Chamber and community activities and events. Call on existing and prospective members to maintain relationships, enhance member retention and discover additional ways to meet their needs. Conduct presentations to explain the benefits of membership and products/services available.
  • Collaborate with peers, managers and coworkers to build member base and share insights regarding market competition, challenges and opportunities. Review current product opportunities and sales efforts and recommend improvements to increase competitiveness and sales.
  • Evaluate programs and initiatives, track results and provide feedback for future participation. Analyze financial results and advise accordingly.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Knowledgeable of the fundamentals of the financial industry.
  • Must possess excellent skills in sales, interpersonal communication, and organization.
  • Must have experience and be comfortable with public speaking and professional presentations.
  • Must have experience with event planning and trade shows.
  • Must be able to lift and carry trade show equipment, tables, supplies, etc.

Education/Experience:
College education is preferred with a degree in marketing or business, but applicable course work may be acceptable.

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in marketing or business development. This position requires flexibility, evening and weekend hours, travel and high professional standards of personal appearance, conduct, judgment, initiative, positive attitude, and confidentiality.

CREDIT ANALYST

Location: Rapid City


Black Hills Federal Credit Union is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Credit Analyst. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  •  Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit;
  • Prepare reports that include the degree of risk involved in extending credit;
  • Evaluate records and recommend payment plans based on earnings, liquidity, payment history, and lifetime value of collateral;
  • Confer with business lenders and other business representatives to exchange credit information;
  • Complete loan applications, including loan proposal reviews, and submit to applicable departments and staff;
  • Generate reports from financial analysis software to evaluate customers’ financial status;
  • Compare liquidity, profitability, and credit histories of establishments being evaluated with those of similar establishments in the same industries and geographic locations;
  • Consult with business members to verify financial and credit transactions; and
  • Analyze financial data such as income growth, quality of management, and market share to determine expected profitability of loans.
Qualifications:
 

College education is preferred with a degree in business, finance, or accounting.The satisfactory completion of college level course work in, but not necessarily limited to, general business, finance, accounting, and marketing is acceptable.Formal training should be supplemented with continuing education. Experience in a business-related field is preferred.

COMMERCIAL INSURANCE AGENT

  • Follow up on referrals in person, via email, and via phone calls.

Qualifications:
 
  • SD Producer License in Property and Casualty Insurance is required.

AGRICULTURAL LENDER

Location: Pierre


To better serve our members in Pierre region, we are seeking a qualified applicant for a full-time Agricultural Lender position. The position will primarily serve Hughes and Stanley Counties, in addition to other counties as necessary. The position will be based in the Pierre MSC. The primary function of this position will be to develop and manage agricultural loan accounts. This position reports directly to the Ag Loan Manager.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing agricultural loan applications; verifying applications for completeness; conducting credit investigations; determining value and status of collateral (if any); establishing a signature limit (if applicable); and documenting agricultural loans as per Credit Union policy and procedures.
  • Facilitate agricultural lending by seeking potential clients. Effectively explain Credit Union products and services. Cross-sell products and services when appropriate.
  • Responsible for conducting loan monitoring activities which may consist of member farm inspections, collateral monitoring, repayment and extensions of loans, reviewing appraisals, preparing annual reviews and other associated tasks.
  • Work with the Collection Department to execute legal repossession of collateral securing a delinquent agriculture loan; maintain collateral while in Credit Union's possession; and negotiate the sale of collateral. Function as the Credit Union's representative while working with the Credit Union's attorney, small claims court, repossession companies, collection agencies, bankruptcy court, and Credit Union members.
Education/Experience:
 
  • College education is preferred with a degree in business, finance, or accounting. A minimum of 3 years’ agricultural lending experience is necessary.

ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

Location: Rapid City
 

Black Hills Federal Credit Union is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Accounting Specialist. This position is responsible for coding, posting, and paying invoices, as well as verifying and setting up vendors. Minimum of two years’ experience with Accounts Payable is preferred.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Processing accounts payable transactions (Microsoft GPD), including vendor set-up; coding, and posting vendor invoices; generate checks; file invoices and check stubs; track W9 and 1099 information; research payments and vendor balances as needed.
  • Responsible for processing incoming and/or outgoing fund transfers as appropriate.
  • Responsible for processing QwickRate certificate of deposit (CD) transactions, including purchases, processing maturities, and creating vouchers to record CD activity.Download QuickRate reports at month end.Verify receipt of safekeeping receipts, review interest accruals and other CD related transactions.
  • Responsible for Daily Cash and Month-To-Date Loan Activity reports.
  • Responsible for reviewing and processing Over 65 Credit Life and Disability Report.
  • Maintain general ledger (GL) subsidiary ledgers for various balance sheet accounts, as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
 
  • Ability to 10-key by touch;
  • Proficient in working with Excel spreadsheets;
  • Must have working knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP);
  • Two years’ accounts payable experience is preferred.
