BHFCU Gives: Raising for Rescues in Q2

Our communities are at the heart of everything we do. By providing our employees with an outlet to connect with non-profit organizations, our Communication Action Team fosters opportunities to give back. The CAT program is comprised of four large drives, with one held each quarter.

Q2 is All About Animals
The Raising for Rescues Supply Drive has been a cornerstone of CAT for nearly a decade. In May, we asked our staff and the community to help us collect food, treats, toys, and other needed supplies to support rescues caring for the best boys and girls.

Benefiting Many
All told, we landed on 13 rescues to benefit from the 2026 Raising for Rescues Supply Drive. This year’s beneficiaries included Wakpa Waste’ Animal Shelter in Eagle Butte; the Oglala Pet Project in Kyle; PAWS in Pierre; Yellowstone Animal Shelter in Billings; Sioux Falls Humane Society and Almost Home Canine Rescue in Sioux Falls; and STARS, Battle Mountain Humane Society, the Humane Society of the Black Hills, A Place for Meow Rescue, Border Paws, Sturgis Animal Shelter, and Western Hills Humane Society in the Black Hills.

Partnerships Boost Results
From food and treats to toys and blankets, we successfully collected supplies, helping to address the various needs of organizations across the communities we serve. But we couldn’t do it alone!

The drive’s success would not have been possible without the generous support of several businesses that helped broaden the reach. Special thanks to Healthy Paws, Pet Pantry, and Barks & Bubbles in Rapid City; Woofers in Black Hawk; Lake Sharpe Pet Resort in Pierre; and Runnings and Roxi & Co. in Sioux Falls. These businesses went above and beyond!

What It’s All About
Improving lives doesn’t just mean human ones! We love helping improve the lives of our furry friends. It’s a small thank you for the critical work that rescues do day in and day out.

Letting the Numbers Speak for Themselves
We’re blown away by the support of our community. Here’s where the donations landed.
  • 13 animal rescues supported
  • 1,772 items collected
  • $16,900 donated
