People Helping People - November 2021
At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. This November, our team found ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.
Children’s Miracle Network Donation
Our staff had virtual fun (and a little competition!) with online game rooms to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. Several staff members also shared how their families had been personally affected by the organization during time spent in the hospital with their children. Through our efforts, we donated $2,300 to the Children's Miracle Network!
Troop Care Packages
Each year around Veterans Day, our team makes contributions to buy supplies for Troop Care Packages. This year we raised enough to purchase 625 items from jerky and trail mix to sunscreen and chapstick, filling 17 boxes! The care packages were sent to deployed Ellsworth Air Force Base troops.
Warm Coats for Cool Kids Winter Clothing Drive
Our Sioux Falls locations partnered with the Pettigrew Heights Neighborhood Association and several other local businesses to put on the Warm Coats for Cool Kids winter clothing drive. This year 111 clothing items were distributed to families and kids, helping them stay warm this winter!
Custer’s Annual Financials Food Drive
Each year at Thanksgiving, our Custer location participates in a community Food Drive with other financial institutions in the area. This year, between member and staff contributions, we donated 78 pounds of food plus made a $420 cash donation. Thank you to all who contributed!
Operation Black Hills Cabin Donation
During November, BHFCU staff and members participated in a basket raffle to raise money for Operation Black Hills Cabin. Located in the Black Hills, the organization provides week-long getaways for combat-wounded veterans. Between the raffle and Jeans Day fundraising, we donated $2,000 to Operation Black Hills Cabin.
