People Helping People - January 2021

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. This January, our team found several ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.
United Way Donation
Through staff pledges, a corporate donation, and several Jeans Day fundraisers throughout the year, we recently contributed $18,025 to the United Way of the Black Hills. The donation is one of the many ways we fulfill our mission to improve lives. By partnering with the United Way, BHFCU is able to impact the lives of individuals and families in ways they truly need.
Meals on Wheels Western South Dakota - Gingerbread Man Fundraiser
In December, our Rapid City and Hot Springs MSCs raised $800 for the Gingerbread Man Fundraiser benefiting Meals on Wheels Western South Dakota. This organization serves and delivers nutritious meals to seniors in 49 communities across the western portion of the state. We're happy to support an organization looking out for the well-being of our senior citizens.
MLK Day Food Drive
We proudly partnered with the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and Feeding South Dakota on their MLK Day Food Drive in January by including donation bins at our 5 Rapid City locations. Thanks to contributions from our staff and the community, we contributed more than 50 pounds of food and $275 to the drive.
Tough Enough to Wear Pink Project
For the 15th consecutive year, BHFCU was proud to take part in the Tough Enough to Wear Pink project benefiting the John T Vucurevich Cancer Care Institute (CCI). Our staff participated by purchasing t-shirts and masks promoting the project and through contributing funds raised through the Jeans Day program. We proudly donated $2,300 to the cause.
