People Helping People - February 2022

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. In February, our team found ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.

Valentines for Vets
Our team got crafty in February! We love the annual tradition of making valentines for veterans and seniors in the communities we serve. We delivered over 1,150 valentines to organizations serving the elderly in Custer, Hot Springs, Eagle Butte, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Sturgis, and Wall.

St. Francis House Meal Service
A few of our Sioux Falls staff members and their families spent an evening serving dinner to 100 residents of the St. Francis House. With the motto "From Homelessness to Hope," this organization is doing important work teaching residents how to be productive, functioning community members. We look forward to helping with several meal services throughout the year!

Black Hills Veterans Monument Donation
BHFCU donated $1,500 to support needed renovations to the Black Hills Veterans Monument in Rapid City. Located at Memorial Park, on the corner of Omaha and 6th Street, the current monument memorializes veterans from the surrounding area lost and missing, ending with Desert Storm. Updates will include adding names from the Iraq, Afghanistan, and Cold Wars.

American Heart Association Donation
February is American Heart Month. To raise awareness and money, we challenged staff to an old-school Jump Rope for Heart. BHFCU team members jumped their way to a $1,400 donation to the American Heart Association.
