People Helping People - February 2021

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. This February, our team found several ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.

Valentines for Vets
Each year our staff pitches in their talents on our Valentines for Vets project! Now, expanded to senior living communities and nursing homes, this project provides hundreds of hand-made Valentines for our veteran and elderly populations. This year we sent love in more than 1,500 cards!

Community Reward Fund Donation
In February, we donated $522 from our Jeans Day fund to the Rapid City Police Department’s Community Reward Fund. Founded in Rapid City 26 years ago, the Community Reward Fund offers monetary incentives for tips that lead to convictions in major crimes. With the Community Reward Fund’s help, law enforcement can solicit tips that may lead to a break in a major case. We are happy to donate to a fund that helps make our community a safer place.

Special Olympics Donation
This month, our staff shared goodies to support a good cause. During the month of February, credit union employees brought in treats for purchase to their locations. Our team enjoyed things like hot cocoa and bagels in exchange for donating to the Special Olympics of South Dakota. Between the treat fundraiser and money raised during Jeans Day, we are proud to share we donated $750 to the Special Olympics of South Dakota.
