People Helping People - December 2021

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. In December, our team found ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.

Salvation Army Angel Tree Toy Drive
Our Rapid City locations participate in the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program every year. This year staff and members showed up in a big way! We donated 130 toys and an additional $500 to ensure kids in our community have a Merry Christmas!

Cornerstone Rescue Mission Donation
We recently donated $2,500 and 16 boxes of coffee to the Cornerstone Rescue Mission in Rapid City. The mission serves more than 500 people in the community each day.

Boys & Girls Club Toy Drive
Our Sioux Falls staff partnered with Coast2Coast Fitness & Yoga to collect toys for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire. At our locations, we collected 30 toys and $500 in donations! Thank you to all who contributed.

Oahe YMCA Annual Support Campaign Donation
Our Pierre team recently made a $1,000 donation to the Oahe YMCA's Annual Support Campaign! The campaign helps provide YMCA memberships and services to those in the community who could not otherwise afford it.

HOPE Center Coffee Donation
We recently donated 16 boxes of coffee to the HOPE Center in Rapid City. The organization provides essential services like a mail center and short/long-term storage to members of the Rapid City community who need assistance.

Sioux Falls Cares Gift Delivery & Donation
Our Sioux Falls team partnered with Sioux Falls Cares again this year, donating $500 and helping deliver gifts around the community. The Sioux Falls Cares program provides food, clothing, toys, and necessities to more than 850 families each year.

Gift & Supply Donation to Rapid City Area Families
This month our Elk Vale and East North locations filled boxes with toys for two area families to ensure they had a memorable Christmas. They also provided essentials for the families’ every day needs.

Bagel in the Street Donation
BHFCU made a $1,000 donation to the KOTA Care & Share Food Drive, better known as Bagel in the Street. The fundraiser benefitted Church Response serving local families and the elderly who are without transportation.

Cheyenne River Youth Project
This month we made a donation to the Cheyenne River Youth Project. We partnered with Chris Supply, who donated batteries to pair with BHFCU’s donation of school supplies and $500.

The Banquet Sioux Falls Donation
Our Sioux Falls team presented a check for $500 to The Banquet. The organization serves 16 meals per week at two locations, with the goal to ensure no community member goes hungry.

Capital Area United Way Donation
Our Pierre team presented a $1,000 donation to the Capital Area United Way for their "Be the G.O.A.T." Annual Campaign. This effort helps the United Way fulfill its goal of handling the fundraising, so their partner agencies can focus on taking care of their communities.
