How to Navigate the Holidays Better than Clark Griswold

The holidays are here! This time of year, we love to snuggle up on the couch and watch holiday classics, including a favorite, Christmas Vacation. Between laughs and cringes, we found there’s a lot it can teach us about surviving the most wonderful time of the year. Hang with us and have some fun while you find out!

Do check your lights before you install them. And consider an upgrade.
If this movie has taught us anything about exterior illumination, it’s to have a plan of attack before you get started. Always check your lights before installing them. If they are decades old, maybe it’s time to upgrade to something more energy efficient and save on electricity costs.

Don’t forget where you hid the gifts.
If you need to hide your purchased presents from the giftees, keep track of where you hide what! You don’t want to have to last minute shop and spend more. If you’re feeling thrifty, check out our alternative gifting suggestions, but maybe skip wrapping the cat.

Do consider if you’ll need extra space for guests.
The holidays can be wild enough. If you’re hosting, ease the stress levels by avoiding an overcrowded home. Is your out-of-town guest list growing? Consider a nearby home rental to give everyone a little extra space. A small financial investment could pay dividends for everyone’s happiness!

Don’t forget to water the Christmas tree.
Are you the proud owner of a real Christmas tree? This is your reminder to regularly water your tree (and watch the dogs and cats!) to avoid costly repairs should it go up in flames!

From all of us at BHFCU, we hope you have the happ, happ, happiest holiday season!
