BHFCU Lender Honored by the National Association of Home Builders
We improve lives – three words that form Black Hills Federal Credit Union’s (BHFCU) core purpose. And three words that have been adopted to mean even more by Candice Menke, BHFCU Mortgage Loan Originator.
Candice has made it her life’s goal to use her knowledge of the housing industry and access to public officials to improve lives. This is exactly why she was nominated for National Associate of the Year in 2023 and 2024 and was awarded the status of Life Delegate by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
“What a huge honor to be acknowledged on the national level, not just once, but two years in a row,” said Candice. “I have been committed to being part of something that changes lives for the better for over a decade and will continue to do so.”
Over the years, Candice has continuously taken on additional responsibilities as an NAHB member. Having served in a leadership role as the State Associate National Director for South Dakota, she’s also served on the National Associates Committee and the Membership Committee and has chaired many subcommittees.
“Sharing the benefits and importance of being an NAHB member has always been something I’m passionate about,” explained Candice. “It has afforded me access to meet with our delegation in Washington D.C. to discuss issues facing our industry locally and help guide policy changes to overcome those challenges.”
Candice graduated from SDSU and began her career in financial services in 1997. After spending nearly 20 years at local banks and in corporate banking, Candice was interested in returning to her passion, community lending. The timing was ideal. When BHFCU first began serving Sioux Falls, Candice was looking to make a move back to serving her community.
She shares that it’s easy to be passionate about what you do when you’re proud of what your company stands for. Candice has enjoyed helping BHFCU become an engrained partner in the Sioux Falls community for the better part of a decade.
When she’s not working for her community, Candice enjoys playing golf and hiking with her family. Her five boys continue to keep her busy as her family expands to include her first grandchild.
From all of us at Black Hills Federal Credit Union, congratulations to Candice for the well-deserved honors of becoming a Life Delegate and being named a National Associate of the Year nominee.
