BHFCU Gives Back - March 2024

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. Learn more about the positive things our team accomplished in March.

Supporting Kids
Each month, our staff-led charitable giving program, the Community Action Team (CAT), focuses on supporting organizations that share common goals. In March, we focused on organizations that help kids. Check out what we accomplished!

Who We Supported
This month, we supported the Readiatrics Book Drive, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills, Youth & Family Services, and Wellfully. BHFCU staff raised $3,225, which was divided among the organizations!

Stuffing Kits for Kids
Our teams across Rapid City stuffed 1,000 kits for kids with 8,000 items! Youth & Family Services handed out these goodies to all the youngsters who hit up the Kids Fair in early April.

Easter Basket Auction for a Good Cause
Co-chairs for this month’s CAT project put together 11 EGG-citing auction baskets. The bidding got intense on some, raising $402 for BHFCU’s three Bowl for Kids’ Sake teams. The BHFCU bowlers will show off their skillsThree women pack plastic bags with items. in early May to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills.

Helping Get Kids Reading
We’re excited to partner with the Readiatrics Book Drive again this year as a drop-off location. Through May 8, we’re accepting new and gently used kid’s books at all West River locations. When the drive wraps up, the Department of Health will disperse the books. We’ve already got a great start in March and plan to donate some of the funds raised this month when we make our final contribution in May!

Donating Livesaving Units of Blood
We partnered with Vitalant for an on-site blood drive at our corporate location. Our 21 donors (including two first-timers!) gave 22 lifesaving units of blood. We look forward to our continued partnership with them throughout the year!
