BHFCU Gives Back - March 2023

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. In March, our team found ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.

Focusing on Education
In 2023, we are refocusing our staff-led charitable giving program, the Community Action Team (CAT.) Each month follows a theme with multiple organizations benefiting. In March, we focused on Education, benefiting the Readiatrics Book Drive, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills, and the Promising Futures Fund. Check out what we accomplished!

Collecting Books for Kids
During March, we put our collection bins out in all west river locations to gather books for the Readiatrics Book Drive supporting the South Dakota Department of Health. Our final tally came to nearly 750 books donated by community members and BHFCU staff.

Shooting Hoops to Promote Education
Our very own sweet 16 got in on the March Madness, participating in a free throw competition while everyone else placed friendly wagers (all going to charity!) on who would take the crown. In the end, Katie J. took the W.

Bowling for a Good Cause
BHFCU staff brought family and friends to a bowling night in Rapid City, with all proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills. Special thank you to Robbinsdale Entertainment Center for hosting us!

Fundraising to Support Programming for Children
A combination of the above-mentioned fundraising efforts and our bi-weekly CAT Donation Program raised a total of $3,100 for the Readiatrics Book Drive, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills, and the Promising Futures Fund.

Supporting the Great Futures Campaign in Pierre
We support great futures for kids! That's why we're always excited to make our annual contribution to the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area's Great Futures Campaign. Our $1,000 donation is a small part of their $125,000 goal to provide programs for Pierre area kids. We thank the Boys & Girls Club for their essential work!
