BHFCU Gives Back - June 2023

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. Our team found ways to do positive things in June. Learn more below.

Focusing on Creating a Better Community
In 2023, we are refocusing our staff-led charitable giving program, the Community Action Team (CAT.) Each month follows a theme with multiple organizations benefiting. In June, we focused on Creating a Better Community, providing aid to three organizations across South Dakota. Check out what we accomplished!

Who We Supported
From Sioux Falls to the Black Hills, we supported: Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity, the Black Hills National Forest Service, and Adopt-A-Mile efforts in Rapid City, Sioux Falls, and Pierre. BHFCU staff raised $2,000 for the Black Hills National Forest and $1,600 for Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity.

Designing Stickers to Support the Forest
This month’s CAT co-chairs got creative, designing two special stickers promoting getting outside and enjoying nature. All in all, the group sold 107 stickers and raised over $350.

Cleaning and Building Up Our Communities
At the beginning of the month, we had three highway clean-ups and a Habitat for Humanity build on the schedule. Thanks to mother nature, only one highway clean-up in Sioux Falls happened. (We will take the rain!) The other two clean-ups and home build are slated for July and August!

Serving Breakfast for a Good Cause
A group from BHFCU Insurance manned the Concession Stand at our annual Member Auto Sale this year with homemade breakfast burritos and more! After selling out two of three flavors, they raised $450 for our June organizations.

Check back in August to see what our CAT crew accomplished in July!
