BHFCU Gives Back - January 2023

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. In January, our team found ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.

 

Celebrating 5th & Minnesota Continues
Our 5th & Minnesota celebrations continued into January with a ribbon cutting and another round of prizes. We held a second $500 giveaway, drawing Rodney C. as our winner! He also helped select our charity winner. A “Wish Dad” 25 years removed (his daughter is a nurse now!), Rodney chose Make-A-Wish to receive $5,000!

 

Focusing on Hunger & Homelessness
In 2023, we are refocusing our staff-led charitable giving program, the Community Action Team (CAT.) Each month follows a theme with multiple organizations benefiting. In January, we focused on Hunger & Homelessness, benefiting Feeding South Dakota, the St. Francis House, and the HOPE Center. Check out what we accomplished!

 

Volunteering to Feed Others
From Sioux Falls to Pierre to Rapid City, we set up nine volunteer opportunities for staff at the St. Francis House and Feeding South Dakota. All in all, we volunteered 76 hours!

 

Collecting Food for Those in Need
We held food drives in five communities collecting 258 items. Shout out to Hot Springs, who collected 130+ items!

 

Fundraising to Fight Hunger & Homelessness
Staff donated for the chance to win a prize package while giving back. At the end of the month, we raised a total of $4,200 for our Hunger & Homelessness organizations.
