BHFCU Gives Back in June

BHFCU is improving lives in our community by collaborating with other organizations who also want to provide assistance where needed. We recently partnered with South Dakota Barber College by matching up to $200 in donations. All proceeds benefited Feeding South Dakota, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to end hunger in the state of South Dakota.

During their grand opening the month of June, South Dakota Barber College offered free haircuts in exchange for cash donations or non-perishable foods. The drive resulted in donations of 650 pounds of food and $2,771 in cash totaling 8,855 meals!

“Each dollar donated provides three meals to those who struggle with hunger in South Dakota. As barbers, it’s our mission to support our community and local organizations,” shared Donnie Joseph, South Dakota Barber College instructor.

The South Dakota Barber College started offering public services in Rapid City on June 9. “There hasn't been a barber college in South Dakota in more than 30 years, but now there is, and it's right here in Rapid City, says Joseph.

BHFCU continues to find ways to meet the needs that arise in the communities we serve. Stay up-to-date on all of BHFCU’s projects by following BHFCU on Facebook.
