Black Hills FCU Supports Sturgis Bike Park

Black Hills Federal Credit Union recently made a $500 donation to the Sturgis Police Athletic League (PAL) in support of their fundraiser for the Sturgis Bike Park, a professional quality bicycle park for people of all ages and skill levels.

The Sturgis PAL is working to build the park to provide youth in their community with a safe, positive environment for recreation-oriented activity. BHFCU’s donation will help the non-profit organization complete construction of the park, which will include a Stryder-style pump track for smaller children, a skills track with obstacles and a dirt bike track for BMX-style riding.

“Black Hills Federal Credit Union is pleased to contribute to this great organization that encourages positive activity in our community,” said Jessica Schmahl, Sturgis Member Service Center Manager. “We believe the bike park will be a wonderful addition to the city of Sturgis, and we look forward to seeing the tremendous impact it will have on our youth.”

Sturgis PAL plans to begin construction on the park, located near Woodle Field, this spring.

Sturgis Police League is a nonprofit organization that was established to prevent juvenile crime, including drug and alcohol abuse and violence, utilizing a recreation-oriented crime prevention program that relies upon athletics, recreation, education and community service programs for youth. Through these programs, Sturgis PAL provides an engaging, safe outlet for all children to reach their potential and to be involved in the Sturgis community in many different ways.
