People Helping People - November 2020

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. This November, our team found several ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.

Veterans Supply Drive
Each year we hold a Veterans Supply Drive to raise money and collect supplies for our local veterans. This year we raised $722, which was split between the Meade County and Hot Springs Veterans Homes. Several socks, t-shirts, and other necessities were collected and distributed. We're proud to give back to those who have given so much!

Packages for Troops
BHFCU proudly supports the men and women serving our country. Each year, our team puts together care packages for deployed troops from the Rapid City area. This year, we sent 11 boxes filled with 600 snack and personal care items to deployed service members from Ellsworth Airforce Base and Camp Rapid.

12 Days of Pizza Donation
BHFCU recently donated $500 to 12 Days of Pizza in Sioux Falls. During the two-week Christmas break, many families struggle to put food on the table in place of school-provided meals. We're proud to partner with Pizza Ranch to provide Sioux Falls families in need with 12 meal coupons to bridge the gap.

YSF Kids Fair in a Box Kit Assembly
With YFS Kids Fair canceled, many businesses in the Rapid City area have pitched in to bring the fair to our kids. BHFCU staff worked hard to assemble over 600 YFS "Kids Fair in a Box" kits! Each box sold raises funds to support western South Dakota children and families in need.

Ag & Natural Resources Scholarship
Each year the Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources holds a banquet to fund scholarships for young people pursuing a career in agriculture and natural resources-related fields. This year, the banquet is not being held, but the need for scholarships has never been greater. BHFCU is proud to offer our annual donation of $250 in support of the scholarship program.

KOTA Care & Share Food Drive
BHFCU recently donated $1,000 to the KOTA Care & Share Food Drive. The drive helps raise money to fund the work of Church Response, which includes feeding the hungry in the Rapid City area.

Sioux Falls Coat Drive
The BHFCU Sioux Falls 10th Street branch partnered with the Pettigrew Heights Neighborhood Association to keep kids warm this winter. The winter clothing drive collected 13 items, which will provide warmth to community members in need. We're grateful to all who donated.
