People Helping People - March 2021
At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. This March, our team found ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.
Main Street Square – Partners in Progress Donation
We are proud to commit to a third consecutive year as a Main Street Square Partner in Progress with a $2,700 donation. This contribution helps support events and improvements in downtown Rapid City. BHFCU’s mission of improving lives directly aligns with Main Street Square’s purpose, to invest in our community and those we share it with.
Hope Center – Baskets of Hope Fundraiser
This year’s Baskets of Hope fundraiser for the Hope Center in Rapid City looked a little different. Although we had to forego our staff free throw competition, our team was just as passionate about supporting this amazing organization. A goodie basket auction and Jeans Day raised $1,800 for the Hope Center. With the average cost to provide services at $500/day, we are excited to have provided enough to fund more than three days of hope this year!
Sturgis Economic Development Corp Donation
As another business dedicated to the improvement of their community, BHFCU was happy to support the Sturgis Economic Development Corp with a $500 donation. This contribution supports SEDC’s mission of assisting expanding and new business, industry, and housing in Sturgis and Meade County.
Readiatrics Book Drive Kickoff
The 2021 Readiatrics Book Drive is on! Sponsored by the Department of Health, this book drive provides reading materials to kids in the Black Hills. We will be collecting new and gently used children's books in all of our Black Hills area locations through May 15.
Ardis Townsend Challenge Kickoff
The Ardis Townsend Challenge to raise money for Pierre Area Referral Service's (PARS) food pantry began on March 1. Through April 30, donations will be collected to support hungry families in Pierre. BHFCU will proudly match 1% of all funds/pounds of food donated, making a total contribution of up to $500.
