People Helping People - December 2020

At BHFCU, our commitment to improving lives in the communities we serve is as strong as ever. In December, our team found several ways to do positive things across South Dakota. Learn more below.

Pierre Pool Donation
We're proud to be a part of a big project in Pierre! BHFCU donated $10,000 to the City of Pierre pool complex project. The new pool will benefit Pierre area residents and presents an excellent economic growth opportunity for the community. The project is expected to get underway in spring 2021.

Sioux Falls Cares
For the last three years, BHFCU has been pleased to support the efforts of Sioux Falls Cares! Our staff helped deliver food, clothing, toys, and other necessities to area families in need, along with a $500 donation. We're grateful for the opportunity to spread cheer around the holidays.

Jeans Day for the Storehouse
In December, we used $300 from our Jeans Day fundraiser to support the Storehouse in Custer. The Storehouse receives and distributes donated food and household items to those in need in Custer County.

Operation Black Hills Cabin Donation
We're proud to support Operation Black Hills Cabin with a $500 donation. The organization provides week-long getaways for combat-wounded veterans and their families as a way to promote healing. BHFCU is honored to support the work of Operation Black Hills Cabin.

Salvation Army Angel Trees
Every holiday season, our Rapid City locations look forward to fulfilling local families' needs through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. This year is no exception, as our team provided gifts for five Angel Trees!

Pierre Area Referral Services Support
We recently donated over $500 for the BackPack Program at Pierre Area Referral Service (PARS). Throughout the school year, PARS fills backpacks with easy-to-prepare weekend meals and snacks for kids in the Pierre area who may not have enough to eat at home. We are happy to support such a worthy cause.

BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers and Jeans Day donations, and contributions from members, staff, and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
