Black Hills FCU Employees Give Back This May
BHFCU Gives Back in May
BHFCU continues to find ways to improve lives in our community. Our employees are focused on making a positive impact in our community and providing resources to those in need.
Black Hills Federal Credit Union recently presented Meals on Wheels, Western South Dakota, with a $5,000 donation to help keep seniors safe and nourished in communities across South Dakota. This donation will be dispersed to Meals on Wheels organizations in the communities of Rapid City, Custer, Hot Springs, Wall, Sturgis, Spearfish, Belle Fourche, Pierre, Cheyenne River and Sioux Falls.
Vulnerable seniors are at the greatest risk amid COVID-19. Local Meals on Wheels programs are on the front lines every day, and they are experiencing increased demand since social distancing measures began taking hold mid-March.
“Black Hills Federal Credit Union is proud to partner with Meals on Wheels to ensure individuals in our community are receiving the nourishment they need, “said Carol Brown, vice president of marketing and business development at BHFCU. “With the demand for this service increasing substantially due to COVID-19, it is important we provide the help and support needed to keep our seniors safe at home.”
A May Community Action Team Project involved all BHFCU branches participating in the World of Hearts Movement, which demonstrates community support and unity, and provides a source of happiness during COVID-19. Hearts of all colors were crafted and are on display in branch windows, welcoming members and staff back after branches were closed due to the pandemic.
With support from its members, BHFCU’s employee-led Community Action Team contributes to and volunteers with more than 60 local, charitable organizations and causes through the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, every year. You can get involved with and stay up-to-date on all of BHFCU’s projects by following BHFCU on Facebook.
