Black Hills FCU Employees Donate to Nonprofits this October
Giving back to their community, Black Hills Federal Credit Union’s employee-led Community Action Team raised nearly $2,500 for a variety of charitable organizations and causes this September, including the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota, the Cornerstone Rescue Mission and more.
As part of their recent project for the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota, employees raised $1,050 through a Halloween-themed costume contest and jeans day fundraiser. The funds will support many of the programs and services at the nonprofit, which serves as South Dakota’s primary orphanage and adoption agency.
For more than 70 years, the Children’s Home Society has worked alongside parents and guardians across South Dakota to help children get the care and services they need,” said Rachel Lere, chair of the Community Action Team Project. “We’re proud to support their efforts to help strengthen families, and in turn, strengthen our community.”
Employees also donated more than $650 to the Cornerstone Rescue Mission, alongside numerous blankets and sheets, as part of their annual Share the Warmth Drive. They also raised more than $800 that will be used to purchase socks and underwear for individuals residing in the Veteran’s Homes in Sturgis, Hot Springs, and Sioux Falls.
This November, BHFCU’s employees and members are participating in Community Action Team projects to benefit Operation Black Hills Cabin, the Autism Society of the Black Hills, Pizza Ranch’s 12 Days of Pizza charitable program and more.
With support from its members, BHFCU’s employee-led Community Action Team contributes to and volunteers with more than 60 local, charitable organizations and causes through the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, every year.
