Black Hills FCU Employees Support Charitable Causes this May

Committed to improving lives, employees at Black Hills Federal Credit Union raised funds and supplies for a number of charitable organizations this May, including local animal shelters, the Family Visitation Center in Sioux Falls and more.

As part of their project to benefit animal shelters in their community, employees collected and donated hundreds of much needed supplies, including pet food, toys, kitty litter, cleaning products and more. They also raised $1,800 to help support shelter costs for animals in need of a loving home.

“With so many of our employees and members owning former shelter pets, this project was near and dear to the hearts of many,” said Tammy Brabazon, co-chair of BHFCU’s Community Action Team project to benefit local animal shelters. “Through this project, we’re proud to support our local animal shelters’ efforts to provide every animal with a safe, loving home. If you’re considering adding a pet to your family, we encourage you to consider your local shelter.”

Employees also raised more than $500 for the Family Visitation Center in Sioux Falls, which provides a safe place for supervised family visitations. Additionally, they donated 18 units of blood during a recent blood drive for Vitalant, formerly United Blood Services.

This June, BHFCU’s employees and members are participating in Community Action Team projects to benefit Front Porch Coalition, Children’s Home Society and more.

With support from its members, BHFCU’s employee-led Community Action Team contributes to and volunteers with more than 60 local, charitable organizations and causes through the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, every year.
